Highly rated tri-national forward Josh Sonni-Lambie is in contention for Liverpool's Goal of the Month award for January 2026.
Eligible to represent England, the 18-year-old also qualifies for Nigeria's Super Eagles and Spain’s La Roja through his paternal grandfather and grandmother respectively.
Liverpool have shortlisted thirteen standout strikes from the men's, women's and academy teams, with Sonni-Lambie's goal against Stoke City in the U18 Premier League among the nominees.
In the first minute of stoppage time, he netted Liverpool U18s third goal, rifling a volley past goalkeeper Benjamin Chivers after the ball fell invitingly following Inglethorpe's deflected backheel.
The forward was previously double-nominated for November 2025, missing out to Mohamed Salah, one of the stars of Egypt's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Sonni-Lambie has been in sensational form this season in the U18 Premier League, netting 14 goals in 15 appearances and scoring in each of his last four matches.
Also shortlisted for the award are Dominik Szoboszlai (3), Florian Wirtz, Amara Nallo, Kieran Morrison, Alice Bergstrom (2), Mia Enderby, Mohamed Salah, and Hugo Ekitike (2).
At international level, Sonni-Lambie has represented England U18s, scoring two goals in five appearances for the Young Lions.
