'Two points stolen' - 1994 AFCON winner reacts to Brighton's late equaliser vs Eagles

Crystal Palace were forced to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove in an English Premier League match at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Eagles boss Patrick Vieira could not count on the services of Eberechi Eze who is still recovering from a long-term injury he suffered four months ago, while summer signing from Reading, Michel Olise remained rooted to the bench for the entire duration of the game.

Brighton's teenage defender Odeluga Offiah, who has been included in two first team matchday squads this term, was not named in the traveling party to the English capital.

Wilfried Zaha fired his spot kick into the bottom corner to open the scoring in first half stoppage time.

In a dramatic ending to the game, the Seagulls snatched victory from Palace as Neal Maupay dinked the ball over goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and restored parity for the visitors in the 95th minute.

Speaking during commentary on the Premier League world feed, retired Nigeria international Efan Ekoku hailed the Frenchman for his late equaliser but noted that the striker hadn't had a sniff of goal prior to his strike.

The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner said : "The one time Neal Maupay has got anywhere near to getting beyond the Crystal Palace defence he finishes in a classy fashion.

"Great composure, so easy to loft it over the crossbar. Two points stolen right at the end."

Brighton, sixth on the table, welcome an in-form Arsenal side to the Amex Stadium in their last match before the second international break of the season.
