'Unstoppable' - Former Super Eagles striker hails Salah after becoming first African with 50 UCL goals

Former Super Eagles striker Efan Ekoku has praised Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool forward became the first African player to reach 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

Salah achieved the historic milestone during Liverpool's emphatic 4–0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield, a result that secured the Reds' passage to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Egyptian international, who missed a penalty in the first half, sealed the win with Liverpool's fourth goal of the night, producing a superb curling effort from the edge of the penalty area.

Reacting to the strike, Ekoku, a member of Nigeria's victorious squad at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, described Salah's finish as 'unstoppable', highlighting the quality of the forward's technique and composure in front of goal.

The goal not only sealed Liverpool's dominant victory but also cemented Salah's place in African football history.

Salah's record-breaking tally moves him ahead of several African legends, including Ivorian legend Didier Drogba, who previously held the record with 44 goals, followed by Samuel Eto'o with 30.

Other notable African scorers in the tournament include Sadio Mané (27 goals), Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang (20), Riyad Mahrez (20), Serhou Guirassy (19), Victor Osimhen (16), Seydou Doumbia (15), and Vincent Aboubakar (14).
