Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed disappointment following the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to be held in Morocco.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the tournament, initially set for March 17 to April 3, 2026, will now take place from July 25 to August 16, 2026, citing “unforeseen circumstances” for the adjustment.
Reacting to the development, Nnadozie admitted that the decision has disrupted the team’s preparations, revealing that the players had already begun gearing up for the competition.
“We, the players, are not happy that the #WAFCON was postponed. We were preparing hard for it," she said in an interview with journalist Osasu Obayiuwana in Lancing, Sussex.
The Brighton & Hove Albion Women shot-stopper has been in outstanding form since transferring from Paris FC last summer.
Despite the setback, attention will remain on the Super Falcons as they aim to defend their continental crown, having clinched a record-extending 10th WAFCON title with victory over hosts Morocco women's national football team in the previous edition.
Meanwhile, Nnadozie is expected to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s title defence, with her current form providing a major boost to the team’s ambitions.
