The Super Eagles may have genuine cause for concern ahead of their upcoming encounter with Uganda as history and recent comments from the Cranes’ camp suggest a confident and motivated opponent.
Uganda have quietly established themselves as one of Nigeria's bogey teams over the years.
In eight previous meetings between both nations, the East Africans have recorded four wins, while Nigeria have managed just two victories, with two matches ending in draws.
More worrying for the Super Eagles is the fact that they are currently winless in their last three games against Uganda.
Their most recent meeting came in an international friendly in November 2018, which ended in a goalless draw in Asaba.
Despite the lack of goals, Uganda once again proved difficult to break down, reinforcing their reputation as a stubborn and well-organised side whenever they face Nigeria.
Following a disappointing draw against Tanzania, a match Uganda could have won but for a missed late penalty, several Cranes players have spoken openly about their expectations and belief ahead of the Nigeria game.
Speaking in the mixed zone after the Tanzania game, Uganda forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe said: "We are going back to our drawing board. We've drawn today, so we are expecting to have a very nice game in the upcoming game with Nigeria.
"We believe in ourselves. We are going to prepare and come harder, with a great mentality, so that we can really win the next game against Nigeria.”
Veteran goalkeeper and captain Denis Onyango added: "We have an opportunity against Nigeria. Tough game, but it is what it is. We need to keep going."
Meanwhile, Uche Ikpeazu, who is of Nigerian descent, kept his message simple but ambitious.
"Against Nigeria, hopefully, we get a win. It's football, we move on."
Nigeria will top Group C if they avoid defeat against the Cranes, regardless of the outcome of the meeting between Tunisia and Tanzania.
