Uchenna Ogundu made his Bundesliga debut for Augsburg in their 3-2 victory over Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena. The 19-year-old Nigerian forward was introduced as a second-half substitute during the league match played in the Bundesliga.
Ogundu joined Augsburg during the winter transfer window from Alanyaspor on a long-term contract running until June 2031.
The forward was included in Augsburg’s matchday squad before being brought onto the pitch in the closing stages of the game.
Wolfsburg opened the scoring in the first half through a header from Yannick Gerhardt following a corner kick delivery.
Augsburg equalized before halftime when Rodrigo Ribeiro completed a team move to level the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Wolfsburg regained the lead through a counter-attacking move that resulted in a goal, making the score 2-1.
Augsburg responded later in the match when substitute Michael Gregoritsch converted a penalty kick to restore parity at 2-2.
The winning goal was scored in stoppage time when defensive midfielder Elvis Rexhbeçaj struck a low shot from outside the penalty area into the bottom corner of the net, securing a 3-2 comeback victory for Augsburg.
Augsburg head coach Manuel Baum had previously stated that Ogundu would be gradually introduced into the squad to allow adaptation to German football.
