Nigeria international striker Joy Omewa continued her impressive start to life in English football by netting her third goal of the 2025‑26 Women’s Super League 2 season, helping Nottingham Forest Women secure a 2‑1 victory over Durham Women FC at The City Ground on Sunday afternoon.
The 23‑year‑old striker, who joined Forest in late January from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring on a deal through the end of the 2025‑26 campaign, opened the scoring early in the contest with a composed finish inside the box.
Chantelle Boye‑Hlorkah later doubled Forest’s lead before Durham pulled one back, but Omewa’s early strike proved decisive in the tight encounter.
Omewa’s goal marked her third of the season, and her second in back-to-back games at the City Ground, having opening the scoring in a 2‑0 home win over Ipswich Town last Sunday.
Before her move to Nottingham Forest, Omewa had an impressive stint in Denmark with Fortuna Hjørring, scoring 52 goals in 85 league appearances and earning Kvindeligaen Player of the Season honours in 2024‑25.
Her transition to English football has been smooth, with her physical presence, sharp movement, and clinical finishing quickly making her one of the division’s most exciting forwards.
With Forest still fighting for a stronger position in the WSL2 standings, Omewa’s contributions have been vital.
