Counsel to the late goal-king, Rashidi Yekini, Barrister Jubril Mohammed has expressed his happiness and gratitude to FIFA President, Sepp Blatter who paid tribute to the Nigeria<span class=\"\\&quot;\\\\&quot;body1\\\\&quot;\\&quot;\">&rsquo;</span>s late football hero yesterday in commemoration of his 50th posthumous<br />birthday.<br /><br />Jubril, while reacting to newsmen from his base in Ibadan over the Blatter<span class=\"\\&quot;\\\\&quot;body1\\\\&quot;\\&quot;\">&rsquo;s</span>s gesture who wrote on his official twitter: &ldquo;Rasheed Yekini would have been 50 today. His name as scorer of Nigeria&rsquo;s first World Cup goal lives on,&rdquo; said the FIFA boss has shown good example of an exemplary leader that worthy of emulation by Nigerian football administrators.<br /><br />The legal practitioner said Yekini who scored Nigeria<span class=\"\\&quot;\\\\&quot;body1\\\\&quot;\\&quot;\">&rsquo;</span>s first World Cup goal, and remains the country<span class=\"\\&quot;\\\\&quot;body1\\\\&quot;\\&quot;\"></span>\'s all-time top scorer with 37 goals from 58 games for the senior national team, deserved more than what he got from Nigeria Football Federation but happy that the World governing body never forgot the soccer prowess of his client after his death.<br /><br />The former Olympiacos and Vitoria Setubal striker would have turned 50 on 23rd of October if he were alive, and Blatter<br />tweeted a tribute in honour of the legend<span class=\"\\&quot;\\\\&quot;body1\\\\&quot;\\&quot;\">&rsquo;s</span>s birthday that died on 4th May 2012. &nbsp;<br /><br />Jubril however disclosed that efforts are on by committee of friends of the deceased to institute a befitting annual sport event to commemorate his birthday and his death, while urging NFF to take a cue from FIFA and increase their conscientiousness and responsibility to the heroes, both the dead and livings that had served the nation.<br /><br />Photo Credit : nndb.com<br />
