Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that two more clubs have joined the race to sign former Nigeria U23 invitee Tim Akinola in the January transfer window.
This website previously reported that Rochdale, Peterborough United and Crawley Town were exploring ways to sign Akinola, with Scottish Premiership outfit St Mirren also monitoring the midfielder's situation closely.
The four clubs now face competition for his signature from National League table toppers York City and League of Ireland Premier Division outfit Waterford.
Waterford have opened talks with Akinola and his representatives, making a verbal offer to the Lokoja-born player.
Akinola is currently on the books of Woking, to whom he is contracted to until the end of the 2025-2026 campaign.
The Cardinals are eager to retain one of their key players but aware that they may have no option but to sell if a suitable bid arrives, particularly as he could leave for free at the end of the season.
Akinola turned out for Lincoln City, Huddersfield Town, Arsenal, Al Bidda, Chesterfield, Gateshead, Dundee United, Dagenham & Redbridge and Solihull Moors before joining Woking as a free agent last summer.
