Newcastle United’s dual-national forward William Osula dedicated his dramatic late goal against Manchester United to his father, Kingsley, highlighting the crucial role his family has played in his development.
Osula, who scored a stunning 90th-minute winner to secure a 2-1 victory at St James’ Park, spoke about the special connection he shares with his father.
“Only me and my dad know what I can really do. My dad's my everything, I love my dad to the moon and back. He's the reason for everything I am today. I'm basically his legacy,” Osula said, as quoted by Chronicle Live.
The forward reflected on the long journey and emotional support that shaped his career, noting the countless personal sacrifices his father made to ensure he succeeded in football.
He said the achievements on the pitch are deeply tied to family motivation and gratitude for his father’s unwavering commitment to his development.
“He invested his whole life in me and I obviously want to pay him back and make him proud and show him what I can do on the pitch, so moments like this, I'm sure he's happy at home right now,” he added.
Born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother, Osula is eligible to represent Denmark and Nigeria.
Osula’s decisive strike capped a dramatic encounter against Manchester United.
After Casemiro had equalized for the visitors, Osula’s curling effort in the 90th minute restored Newcastle’s lead and secured a memorable home victory.
The win ended Manchester United’s unbeaten run under caretaker manager Michael Carrick.
