'Nnadozie did well' - Arsenal boss hails Super Falcons GK after helping Brighton set club record

Arsenal Women manager Renee Slegers praised Chiamaka Nnadozie after the Super Falcons goalkeeper's commanding display in Brighton's 1-1 draw with the Gunners in a Women's Super League encounter at the Broadfield Stadium on Wednesday.

Fuka Tsunoda gave Brighton the lead shortly before the break, but the visitors earned a share of the points through Frida Maanum’s second-half equaliser.

Nnadozie inspired the Seagulls to a historic five-match unbeaten streak in the Women's Super League, marking the club's longest run without defeat since at least 2011-12.

Manchester City were crowned winners of the WSL with a game to spare thanks to the impressive performance of the three-time African Goalkeeper of the Year.

Nnadozie produced a series of key saves for Brighton, including a superb fingertip stop to deny Caitlin Foord and a sharp reaction to keep out Lotte Wubben-Moy from a set-piece, although the offside flag meant it would not have counted.

Slegers admitted Arsenal struggled to break down Brighton's defence despite the presence of Alessia Russo and Stina Blackstenius.

Speaking to the BBC, she stated: "Brighton always come out very convinced and with a lot of intensity. It is also about the decisions we make on the pitch. It is finding the balance and building partnerships over the pitch across the season so you can make changes and it doesn't effect the team.

"There were opportunities in behind but also Nnadozie did well defending that space, so you need a lot of detail and quality in execution."

Next for Nnadozie and her Brighton teammates is Sunday's FA Cup semifinal clash against Liverpool.
