Major League Soccer outfit Portland Timbers have announced the signing of former United States U23 international with Nigerian heritage Amobi Okugo on undisclosed terms.<br /><br />Okugo, who turned 25 in March, was without a team since he was waived by Sporting Kansas City, but was loaned to New York Red Bulls II in April by the MLS. <br /><br />The California native bagged his first professional contract with Philadelphia Union, after playing for IMG Soccer Academy and UCLA Bruins.<br /><br />The defensive midfielder cum central defender has <span class="s1">135 league appearances under his belt in the American top division , scoring five goals (seven assists).<br /><br />He joins Fanendo Adi and Nigeria youth international Akinjide Idowu at Portland Timbers.<br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel <br /><br /></span><br />Photo Credit : philadelphiaunion.com
