England U21 star Chuba Akpom has explained why he was not on parade at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night in Arsenal&rsquo;s 2-0 win over Reading in the fourth round of the League Cup.<br /><br />It has come to light that the attacker is still recovering from an injury, and he is hoping to return to full fitness sooner rather than later. <br /><br />&ldquo;Good win for the boys tonight , onto the next round , gutted i couldn&rsquo;t be out there but still on the road to recovery 🙏🏾 #AFC, &rdquo; Akpom said via social media last night. <br /><br />Akpom, 21, helped the Gunners progress to the fourth round, playing 83 minutes of their 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest in September. <br /><br />While he has not made a single appearance in the Premier League and Champions League this term,&nbsp; the attacker has impressed for the U21 team in Premier League 2, with 3 goals (1 assist) to his name from 2 matches. <br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel<br /><br />Photo Credit : arsenal.com<br />
