Having committed his international future to Nigeria over England, Arsenal center back Joseph Olowu is aiming to make his debut for the Super Eagles.
Born in Ibadan on November 27, 1999, Olowu is not age-eligible to represent the Flying Eagles at the 2021 FIFA U20 World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games, so his first appearance at international level has to be with the Super Eagles.
On playing for the Super Eagles, Olowu said on Instagram Live: "It is something I've always looked forward to so I don't think I would be overwhelmed.
"Of course I'll be very excited and very grateful for the opportunity but I would not let that affect how I perform.
"When the opportunity does come I'll take it with both hands and just show what I know I can do and enjoy it for sure."
Olowu selected two central midfielders in the shape of Gedion Zelalem and Ismaël Bennacer, who were formerly with the Arsenal Academy as the two best players he has trained with.
"I think the player that probably comes to my mind is between two midfielders Gedion Zelalem and Ismaël Bennacer, I was fortunate to play with them in training.
"Gedion plays in America at the moment and Ismael plays for AC Milan, they were both at the Arsenal Academy, they've moved on now.
"It will be a dream to play for Arsenal first team, to progress it will be amazing honestly speaking."
Olowu signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in December 2017 and has been invited to train with the first team on multiple occasions.
