Super Eagles midfielder Nnadi provides assist on full debut for 1993 European champions

Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi has officially made his full debut for French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille, starting in their 1-1 draw against OGC Nice at the Orange Vélodrome, where he also registered an assist.

The 22-year-old, who joined Marseille from Belgian club Zulte Waregem in February 2026, was handed his first start by head coach Habib Beye as the 1993 European champions looked to add control and energy in midfield during a tightly contested fixture.

Nnadi, who had previously made brief substitute appearances since arriving in France, was trusted from the outset in a match that demanded discipline and composure in the middle of the park.

Marseille dominated possession for long spells but initially struggled to break down a well-organised Nice side.

The breakthrough arrived in the 66th minute when Nnadi showed his vision and awareness in advanced midfield areas.

He delivered a precise lofted pass into the box, picking out Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who rose highest to head home and give Marseille the lead.

However, the hosts were unable to hold on for all three points. Nice were awarded a late penalty in the 88th minute, and Elye Wahi converted from the spot to bring the visitors level, ensuring the match ended 1-1.

Despite the late setback, Nnadi impressed with a composed display, demonstrating calmness in possession, sharp passing under pressure, and strong defensive positioning.

The midfielder, who has already been capped at senior level for the Super Eagles, continues to adapt to the pace and physical demands of French football.

His full debut, capped with an assist, marks a significant milestone in his development and integration into the Marseille squad.
