The Belgian Pro League general assembly has decided to discontinue the Jupiler Pro League and 1B competitions for the 2019-2020 season, and declared Club Brugge as champions, meaning they are certain to participate in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the 2020-2021 season.
Club Brugge accumulated 70 points from 29 matches before the league was halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Nigerian strikers David Okereke and Emmanuel Dennis are on Club Brugge's roster, with the former Spezia man making 22 appearances over the course of the season and netting nine goals, while the Super Eagle played 20 games and finished with five goals to his name.
Okereke took to Instagram to celebrate winning his first league title in Europe, stating, "100% CHAMPIONS #BLUVNGOAN #KAMP16EN #biancaneve #scemino14 #believe #Godovereverything #15/05/2020".
His post drew reactions from a Super Eagles player, two U17 World Cup winners and a former U23 star, who congratulated him on winning the league.
