Nigeria women's national football team, the Super Falcons, returned to winning form with a 3-1 victory over Cameroon women's national football team at Yaounde’s Military Stadium after losing the first friendly 1-0.
The Super Falcons started the match on a strong note despite conceding an early goal. Cameroon took the lead in the 7th minute, putting pressure on the visitors in the opening stages of the encounter.
Nigeria responded in the 32nd minute when Chiwendu Ihezuo headed home a cross delivered by Rinsola Babajide to restore parity at 1-1.
The goal lifted Nigeria’s confidence as they continued pushing forward in search of a second goal before the break.
The Super Falcons completed the first-half turnaround in the 43rd minute when Rinsola Babajide scored to give Nigeria a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The attacking play from Nigeria created several chances, allowing them to dominate possession during parts of the first half.
After the break, Nigeria maintained their momentum and added a third goal in the 64th minute through Michelle Alozie, extending the lead to 3-1.
Cameroon attempted to fight back but struggled to break down Nigeria’s defence as the visitors managed the game effectively.
The friendly match is part of Nigeria’s preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026, where the ten-time African champions will compete against Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on the 17th of March in Morocco, and the Super Falcons used the international friendlies to fine-tune their squad ahead of the competition.
