Norwegian-Nigerian striker Bryan Fiabema has revealed that he turned down a move to Tromsø in favour of Norwegian Eliteserien giants Rosenborg this month.
Fiabema will be spending the whole of the 2022 Norwegian season on loan at Rosenborg, with an option to buy him outright from Chelsea included in the deal.
The 19-year-old is a product of the Tromsø academy and they had hoped he would be returning to the Alfheim Stadion.
The Norway youth international made one first team appearance for Tromsø before joining Chelsea in February 2020 following a successful trial.
When Fiabema made his senior debut for Tromso on July 14, 2019 aged
16 years and 148 days, he was the youngest player of Nigerian
descent to feature in the Norwegian Eliteserien until the record was
surpassed by Antonio Nusa in May 2021.
Explaining why he said no to his former club, Fiabema said to TV2 : "There were a number of clubs that were interested and Tromsø was one of them.
"I'm not saying that Tromsø had not been a good way to go, but I was a bit looking for something new. I have already been to Tromsø."
Fiabema tallied eight goals for Chelsea youth teams in 2021-2022 before heading to Rosenborg on loan.
