2023 Flying Eagles invitee Godwin Oshagbemi has completed a move to Croatian lower-division side NK Omiš, marking his first professional stint in Europe after an impressive spell in the Republic of Benin, Kwara Football Academy have confirmed through official channels.

The 20-year-old striker sealed the transfer after spending nearly two years with ASVO FC in the Beninese league, where he gained attention for his goal-scoring instincts, and technical ability in the final third.

The teenage forward signed a five months short-term contract to the end of the campaign and is expected to move to a top-flight club in the summer.

Oshagbemi, who is a product of the Kwara Football Academy (KFA), is expected to make his debut for NK Omiš on Saturday when the club takes on HNK Val in a Croatian lower division fixture.

The Nigerian forward previously earned a call-up to the Flying Eagles camp in 2023 during preparations for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. 

His invitation followed impressive performances in the NPFL with Kwara United, where his displays highlighted his potential as one of the promising young attackers emerging from the domestic league.

Despite featuring in the preparatory camp alongside players such as Benjamin Frederick, Tochukwu Nnamdi, and Salim Fago Lawal, Oshagbemi did not make the final squad that represented Nigeria at the tournament.

However, the Flying Eagles went on to enjoy a strong outing in Argentina, defeating hosts Argentina to reach the quarter-finals before their campaign ended with a defeat to South Korea.

While several members of that camp have since progressed to represent Nigeria at senior level, Oshagbemi will now be hoping to use his move to Europe as a platform to further develop his game and showcase his talent on a bigger stage.
