Following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season, Ipswich Town have confirmed those players leaving the club and those retained for the 2023-2024 season, through their official website.
The Blues have announced that Sone Aluko has been offered a new contract, meaning the versatile striker is expected to report for pre-season training if he puts pen to paper on the new deal.
The news has seemingly ended speculation over the future of the out-of-favor Super Eagles player who joined Ipswich Town on a free transfer in August 2021.
Aluko earned the last of seven international caps for the Super Eagles in a friendly against Uganda eight years ago, specifically March 25, 2015.
Ipswich Town have retained the services of the experienced forward ahead of their return to the EFL Championship in 2023-2024.
Aluko has racked up 191 appearances in the second tier of English football for four different clubs, namely Blackpool, Hull City, Fulham and Reading, scoring 24 goals and contributing a further 25 assists.
Since joining Ipswich Town, the 34-year-old has made 55 appearances in all competitions, and has captained the team in Papa Johns Trophy, Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup matches.
