Controversial Penalty Saves Dolphins From Defeat

Dolphins fought from a goal down to hold Wikki Tourists to a thrilling 1-1 draw on Sunday.<br /><br />The Pride of Rivers needed a contentious late penalty to level the scores after Wikki had taken a 58th lead through Mubarak Umar.<br /><br />Dolphins came into the game determined to grab the maximum points after a disappointing loss to Elkanemi Warriors on Wednesday. <br /><br />Wikki were in no mood at all to give anything away as they came prepared with only one thing on their mind &ndash; win the game to record a positive result away from home.<br /><br />The hosts dominated the first half but found it difficult to convert the numerous chances that came their way.<br /><br />Umar however opened the deadlock for Wikki in the 58th minute when he caught out Sunday Rotimi with a powerful angled pile drive<br /><br />Dolphins could have equalized but for their profligacy in front of goal. Wikki also had their moments but their chances were few and far in between.<br /><br />The visitors were reduced to ten men when Omoh Johnson was brought down at the edge of the area by Peter Ambrose. <br /><br />And when it appeared defeat for the Pride of Rivers was inevitable, referee Alaba Abiodun awarded a contentious penalty on the 88th minute mark.<br /><br />Defender Victor Ezuruike stepped up to score with aplomb, firing his effort beyond goalkeeper Haliru Sani to earn a face-saving draw for the hosts. <br />
