Dekina, Kogi Nick Semi -Final Ticket

Dekina and Kogi local government teams booked a place in the semifinal of the 2015 Kogi State Governor&rsquo;s Cup following victories against Okehi and Adavi respectively.<br /><br />Strikes from Mohammed Salisu and Alhassan Yakub helped Coach Umar Isah&rsquo;s team squeeze past Adavi&nbsp; by 2-1 on Sunday.<br /><br />Ape Omatugba&rsquo;s solitary effort were all Dekina needed to secure passage&nbsp; against a stubborn Okehi team into the semi final stages on Saturday.<br /><br />Despite narrow loss to Dekina, Special Adviser to Kogi governor for Okehi Local government area, admits his side were unlucky but pledged a come back.<br /><br />&ldquo;We (Okehi) won for having come this far. This was Dekina&rsquo;s day. Expect us, we are coming back stronger next time, &rdquo; Ganja said.<br /><br />But Adavi coach Haruna Habib who lamented his side&rsquo;s exit at the expense of Kogi blamed their loss on their underutilized scoring opportunities.<br /><br />&ldquo;We could&rsquo;ve win them (Kogi) if we had taken our chances. It is a great experience for us and we&rsquo;re happy with the fair officiating,&rdquo; Habib said.<br /><br />Earlier, Kabba/Bunu and Omala sealed last four spots with victories against Lokoja and Igalamela/Odolu respectively a week ago.<br /><br />In the semi-final fixtures, Kabba/Bunu will play Omala while Dekina will face Kogi for a place in the final.<br /><br />Both semi-final ties billed for the Lokoja Confluence Stadium have been fixed for 11th and 13th September respectively.<br /><br />The final of this year&rsquo;s state-wide football championship organized by the Kogi State Football Association will hold on September 26 at the same main bowl. &nbsp;<br /><br />
