Derby County have leapfrogged West Brom in the race for the signature of Super Eagles star Ola Aina, according to reports.
It looked like the right-back would be joining the Baggies on a season-long loan but the Daily Mail is now reporting that Aina is set to join Derby on loan from Chelsea.
Derby County managers Jody Morris and Frank Lampard have close links with Chelsea and this puts The Rams in pole position for the Nigerian defender.
Frank Lampard has already done transfer business with Chelsea in the ongoing transfer window, with the highly-rated young midfielder Mason Mount joining the club on a season-long loan.
Aina spent the whole of last season on loan at Hull City and was a key player as the Tigers avoided the drop, making an impressive 44 appearances in the Championship from a possible 46.
The Super Eagles fullback has played six games for Chelsea's first team to date.
