Ex-Everton Star Yakubu : I Found It Difficult To Return To Form After 2010 AFCON

Out-of-favour Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni has revealed that he found it difficult to adjust to the Premier League whenever he returned to England from the African Cup of Nations.<br /><br />The Coventry City number 22 does not have a good view about the pitches in Africa, adding that it took him up to two weeks to get back to form.<br /><br />&ldquo;It is quite difficult to come back from an Africa Cup of Nations in the middle of the season. It&rsquo;s a different kind of football and you have to change your mentality for the tournament, &rdquo; Yakubu told evertonfc.com<br /><br />&ldquo;It can be difficult in Africa - a lot of the pitches aren&rsquo;t great which makes it tough. <br /><br />&ldquo;I found it took two or three weeks to get back up to full speed after returning, which I think is the case for a lot of players.&rdquo;<br /><br />Yakubu was part of the Super Eagles squad at four African Cup of Nations tournaments, with his last appearance being the 2010 edition in Angola. <br /><br />Igho Kingsley <br /><br />Photo Credit : ccfc.co.uk<br />
