Galatasaray confirm Super Eagles striker Osimhen to undergo surgery on fractured arm

Galatasaray have confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will undergo surgery following an arm injury sustained during the UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

The 27-year-old, who has been pivotal for the Yellow-Reds this season, suffered the injury in the first half after a challenge with French defender Ibrahima Konaté.

Despite completing the opening 45 minutes, Osimhen was substituted at the start of the second half, with former Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané taking his place.

His withdrawal marked a turning point in the match, as Liverpool went on to secure a 4-0 victory, advancing 4-1 on aggregate to the quarterfinals.

Following the injury, Osimhen returned to Nigeria to spend time with friends and family before traveling back to Istanbul for a medical assessment.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray confirmed that surgery was necessary due to a fractured arm.

In an official statement, the club said: "Our player Victor Osimhen has undergone surgery due to a fractured arm. Further details will be released through our official channels after the surgery."

Osimhen’s absence presents a major concern for Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, as the striker has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

The Nigerian international’s contribution has been central to Galatasaray’s campaign, as they aim to secure a domestic double following their Champions League exit.
