Galatasaray keen to sign ex-Nigeria U23 international as Osimhen's striker partner next season

According to a report by habersarikirmizi.com, Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray are keen to entrust their attacking duties to Nigerians next season, with Victor Osimhen and Promise David identified as the preferred strike partnership.

Born in Brampton, Ontario, David is a former Nigeria U23 international, but he is now cap-tied to his country of birth Canada after switching his international allegiance from Nigeria.

The Union Saint-Gilloise goal poacher risks being omitted from Canada's roster to the 2026 World Cup, having recently undergone surgery to repair repair a ruptured tendon in his hip, an injury expected to keep him sidelined for a minimum of three months.

Galatasaray have earmarked David as a potential successor to Mauro Icardi, who has roughly three months remaining on his contract with the Istanbul club.

The 24-year-old is believed to have enhanced his credentials in November 2025 when he scored the decisive goal for Union Saint-Gilloise in a UEFA Champions League clash against Galatasaray.

Galatasaray are not alone in pursuing David, whose performances have drawn interest from top-five European league clubs, including Leeds United, West Ham United and Sunderland.

Osimhen has featured in 21 matches alongside Icardi, with the former African Footballer of the Year providing an assist for the Argentine in a 5–1 victory over Eyüpspor in February.
