Coventry City midfielder Jack Rudoni has spoken about his connection with Frank Onyeka, saying they complement each other really well.
In search of adequate playing opportunities, the Super Eagles midfielder dropped down a division, joining the Championship promotion hopefuls on loan for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season, with an obligation to buy included in the deal should Coventry secure promotion to the Premier League.
Rudoni has built a relationship with Onyeka, who has become a fan favorite since his loan move from Brentford in the winter transfer market.
The hardworking Nigerian midfielder, nicknamed The Tank, has reduced the workload on his teammate by winning the ball, covering space and helping defensively.
"Tank’s like my new best mate, I love him,” Rudoni said at Thursday's pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Blackburn Rovers.
"I can kind of just stand in the pocket and wait for Frank to demolish someone and give me the ball. It makes my life easy playing with them. They are top players — I can’t wait to be playing with them longer."
When asked about the difference the Nigerian has made, Rudoni admitted that Onyeka's qualities have significantly eased his own responsibilities on the pitch.
"He's such a physical presence. He's so good at winning the ball back and showing strength and speed, just upping the tempo and the press.
"It makes it so much easier for me when you have someone who can win it back and play you the ball as quickly as possible. I think that’s what he likes — to win it and pass it forward.
"But he’s also good on the ball. He's a top player. He's played many games in the Premier League, so he brings that experience. And off the pitch, he’s great as well, very chilled."
Coventry City will look to seal promotion when they face Blackburn Rovers on Friday, needing just a single point to achieve their objective.
