'It's like giving up' - Gift Orban worried about Hellas Verona's league position

Gift Orban has voiced his frustration over Hellas Verona’s poor league position, admitting recent results have been difficult to take as the club battles relegation in the Serie A.

Orban, who joined the Italian side on loan from Hoffenheim with an option to make the move permanent, has been one of Hellas Verona’s standout performers this season.

The Nigerian international has scored seven goals in 27 league appearances, making him the club’s leading scorer so far this campaign.

However, his contributions have not been enough to lift the team out of danger, with Verona sitting 19th on the table with just 18 points.

Reacting after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Orban expressed his disappointment on Instagram, saying: "You work hard but the results never come, it’s like giving up".

The forward came on as a second-half substitute as goals from Giovanni Simeone and Cesare Casadei condemned Verona to their 20th defeat of the season.

With six matches left in the campaign, Verona face an uphill task to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, Orban will be hoping to rediscover momentum and help steer the club to safety as the season approaches its decisive stage.
