A Super Eagles-eligible player Rio Ngumoha has been included in Troy Deeney's BBC Premier League Team of the Week, following the conclusion of the matchday 30 fixtures on Monday, March 16.

The England youth international of Nigerian descent made his first Premier League start for Liverpool as the Reds shared the spoils with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

In doing so, the former Chelsea forward became Liverpool's fourth-youngest Premier League starter at 17 years and 198 days— the youngest since Ben Woodburn, who started against Stoke City in April 2017.

Against Tottenham, Ngumoha delivered an outstanding performance, completing a game-high seven dribbles and registering a joint team-high three shots, including one on target.

Operating in a 4-3-3 formation, Ngumoha featured in attack alongside Arsenal’s history-making teenager Max Dowman and Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon in the BBC Team of the Week. 

Completing Deeney’s BBC Team of the Week are: goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale; defenders Dominik Szoboszlai, William Saliba, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jaka Bijol; plus midfielders Joe Willock, James Milner and Bruno Fernandes.

Explaining why he picked Ngumoha in the Team of the Week, Deeney stated: "He was direct, kept picking up the ball and running at people and making sure to be a threat. 

"He also had the game intelligence to know when to play the ball. The game swung in Tottenham's favour when he came off."

Since the start of the season, Ngumoha has featured in 19 games across all competitions for Liverpool's first team, including five starts, and has scored one goal.
