London Football Awards (Player Of The Year) : Aluko, Akinde Miss Out; Alli Loses To Kante

Nigerian strikers Sone Aluko and John Akinde have missed out on English Football League Player of the Year at the 2017 London Football Awards.<br /><br />The Fulham striker and Barnet sensation were nominated for the award on the back of their fine form for their respective clubs since the start of this season. <br /><br />At a gala ceremony on Thursday night, Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney was handed the award after beating the Nigerian nominees, Scott Hogan (former Brentford) and Alex Smithies (QPR).<br /><br />Young Player of the Year Dele Alli lost out to Chelsea midfielder N&rsquo;Golo Kante in the Premier League Player of the Year category. <br /><br />Chelsea striker Eniola Aluko is the only player born in Nigeria that stands a chance of winning an award tonight, with Alex Iwobi missing out on the Young Player of the Year.<br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel <br /><br />Photo Credit : fulhamfc.com<br />
