Luton Town CB Odoffin helps Arsenal legend Wilshere win first trophy as manager at Wembley

Super Eagles hopeful Hakeem Odoffin delivered an impressive performance as Luton Town defeated Joseph Olowu’s Stockport County 3–1 at Wembley on Sunday to lift the Vertu Trophy.

The victory marked Arsenal legend Jack Wilshere's first managerial silverware, following his appointment as Luton Town head coach in October 2025.

The Hatters had to come from behind to secure the win as they were trailing following Adama Sidibeh's opener in the 11th minute.

Emiliano Lawrence scored the equaliser in the 22nd minute, before Nahki Wells’ brace sealed the comeback victory.

With Stockport County short of defensive cover, forward Kyle Wootton was pushed into the back four after another Nigerian centre-back with Super Eagles ambitions Olowu suffered an injury and was substituted in the 65th minute.

Apart from his defensive duties, Odoffin also contributed offensively, coming close to scoring on two occasions.

In the 39th minute, he glanced a header wide of the post from Liam Walsh's superb free-kick, and saw his effort sail over the crossbar after being encouraged to shoot by the  Hatters supporters just past the hour mark.

A product of Tottenham Hotspur academy, Odoffin had spells at Reading, Barnet, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Northampton Town, Livingston, Hamilton Academical and Rotherham United before joining Luton Town as a free agent last summer.
