Sadio Mane has now mustered 100 Premier League goals after getting on the scoresheet in the ninth minute of Liverpool's 5-0 rout of William Troost-Ekong's Watford on Saturday.
Mane is the third African player to reach that milestone after Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Reds teammate Mohamed Salah.
In the opinion of former African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, Mane is not getting the credit he deserves because he is being overshadowed by Salah, whom he feels is a better player as compared to the Senegalese.
The retired Nigeria international and 1996 Olympics gold medalist underlined that things would have been different if the two African wingers were playing for different clubs.
Salah has terrorized Premier League defences, scoring in each of his last six games in the division while producing two assists.
Speaking on SuperSport's Monday Night Football, Ikpeba stated : "Both are playing in the same club. If you have Mane playing somewhere else and Salah playing somewhere else in a different club I think the highlight will be completely different.
"I think Salah in some ways overshadows Mane a little bit. Look at Salah what he does every week you have a feeling that Salah is more consistent than Mane.
"But for you to score 100 goals so far and to be in a league of those great players - the likes of Drogba, Salah, Adebayor - shows the quality Mane has.
"What an outstanding player he is for Liverpool and Senegal."
Mane has had podium finishes in the last four African Footballer of the Year awards, taking home the top prize for 2019.
