Chelsea loanee Tyrique George has confirmed that he is eligible to represent both Nigeria and Ghana at international level, revealing his family background while speaking about his career and personal life.
The 19-year-old attacker, who joined Everton on loan from Chelsea on January transfer window deadline day for the remainder of the season, made the disclosure while introducing himself and outlining key details about his upbringing and football journey.
Speaking to Everton's official channel, George identified his heritage by stating, “I’m Tyrique George and these are five things about me. I was born in Camden, London and my mom is Ghanaian and my dad is Nigerian.”
The comments confirm that the forward qualifies to play for both the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the Black Stars of Ghana as well as England's Three Lions.
George also spoke about his versatility on the pitch, highlighting the range of positions he is capable of occupying in attack.
Describing his playing style and adaptability, he said, “I can play on both feet, either wing, attack midfield or up front.” He also referenced the players who influenced him growing up, adding that his favourite players were “Neymar and Sancho.”
The Chelsea loanee further reflected on his experiences at club level, outlining the competitions he has featured in during his time with the London side.
Providing context to his development, George said, “At Chelsea, I played in the Champions League, Conference League and the Club World Cup.”
On the international scene, George confirmed his long-standing involvement with England’s youth teams.
Speaking on his progression through the ranks, he stated, “I started playing for England since under 15s all the way to now under 21s.”
Away from football, the teenager shared a brief insight into his life off the pitch, noting that “away from football, I like to watch movies and spend time with my family.”
