Nottingham Forest have appointed Vítor Pereira as their new Head Coach, with the Portuguese tactician set to oversee the development of Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi.
The club confirmed the appointment on its official website, following the recent departure of Sean Dyche.
Pereira arrives at Trentside with a wealth of managerial experience across Europe, Asia, and South America.
Most recently, he was in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he coached another Nigerian player, Tolu Arokodare, before leaving the club amid their struggles for consistent Premier League results.
The Portuguese coach will now have the opportunity to work with Nigerian internationals once again, this time at Nottingham Forest.
Both Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will be looking to thrive under his guidance as the club aims to improve its performance in the Premier League.
Pereira’s managerial career began in Portugal in 2002, later achieving significant success at Porto with back-to-back league titles.
He has since managed clubs including Olympiacos, where he won the league and cup double, Fenerbahçe in Turkey, Shanghai SIPG in China—winning their first league title and the Chinese Super Cup—and Brazilian sides Corinthians and Flamengo.
Joining Pereira at Nottingham Forest will be a new coaching team including Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida and Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva as assistant coaches, Bruno Filipe Araujo De Moura as Head of Physical Performance and Opposition Analysis, and Pedro Simao Capela Silva Lopes as Opposition Analyst.
