Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru had to wait until his fifth game in the UEFA Youth League before opening his goalscoring account for Manchester City in the competition.
The Citizens still have a chance of progressing to knockout round of the UEFA Youth League after thrashing Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 on Tuesday, November 26.
Dele-Bashiru and two other Nigeria-eligible youngsters in the shape of Gavin Bazunu and Nathanael Ogbeta were included in City's starting line-up.
Rogers opened the scoring for the Blues in the 11th minute, tapping in from close range after a shot taken by Dele-Bashiru was blocked and fell kindly for him.
Although the Nigerian midfielder is claiming the assist, the official website of UEFA recorded it as an unassisted goal since a Shakhtar Donetsk player touched the ball last before Rogers struck.
At minute 23, Dele-Bashiru doubled City's advantage with a brilliant shot from 20 yards out.
Writing on Instagram, the Manchester City U19s number 10 said : ''5-0 win vs shaktar 1 goal, 1 assist ''.
