One-Time Leeds United Target Mbakogu Wanted By Lecce
Newly promoted Serie B club Lecce are mulling over a move for Nigerian striker Jerry Mbakogu, according to reports.
SoloLecce.it says Lecce are in the market for a striker and have started negotiating with Mbakogu's camp over the possibility of joining the club this summer.
The powerful striker recently terminated his contract with Carpi because of problems related to his proposed move to Championship outfit Leeds United.
Lecce's first choice was Andrea La Mantia but Virtus Entella have been playing hardball in recent days, and the plan B is to sign Mbakogu.
The 25-year-old Nigerian is an experienced campaigner in the Italian Serie B with 39 goals (26 assists) in 142 appearances.
He has also played for Scorzè Peseggia, SS Juve Stabia, Palermo, Padova and Krylya Sovetov Samara.
