Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has warned Liverpool about the aerial threat posed by Victor Osimhen ahead of the decisive second-leg clash against Galatasaray at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s narrow 1–0 victory over Liverpool in the first leg at Rams Park.
His presence caused persistent problems for the Reds’ defence and helped create the decisive moment of the match.
The 27-year-old striker set up the only goal of the contest in the first half, providing a headed assist for Mario Lemina, who fired home to give the Turkish champions a crucial advantage heading into the return leg.
Osimhen nearly added his name to the scoresheet as well, but saw a goal ruled out for offside during the buildup.
Reflecting on Osimhen’s impact in the first leg, Iwobi praised his compatriot and highlighted the striker’s formidable ability.
"Currently I am watching Liverpool versus Galatasaray, Gala are winning, taking the lead. Shout to Osimhen with the assist," Alex Iwobi said on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast.
"That guy Osimhen Airways. If you do your research on Osimhen Airways, that's a one-way flight., and it gets the maximum altitude. I'm sure the plane will have a mask on it as well for him. Victor my guy, always causing teams havoc.”
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal last summer, has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Europe’s elite competition.
The Nigerian international has been one of the standout performers for the Istanbul-based club in the Champions League this season.
During the group stage, the prolific forward made a decisive contribution against Liverpool, converting a penalty as Galatasaray secured victory over the Premier League side.
In total, Osimhen has registered seven goals and three assists in nine Champions League appearances this season, underlining his importance to the Yellow-Reds’ attacking play.
With Galatasaray holding a slender advantage from the first leg, Osimhen will be eager to deliver another influential performance at Anfield and help the Turkish champions secure progression to the quarter-finals of the competition.
