Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was the hero for Galatasaray as his first-half goal secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Beşiktaş in Saturday’s Turkish Süper Lig clash, equalling the longest goal-contribution streak of his career.
Osimhen, who missed the recent cup fixture against Alanyaspor, continued his impressive run of form for the Yellow-Reds since making his move permanent in the summer.
The Nigerian international broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, rising highest to meet a precise cross from Leroy Sané and powering a diving header past the goalkeeper to give the hosts the decisive advantage.
The goal means Osimhen has now contributed to a goal in each of his last eight league appearances for Galatasaray, registering eight goals and four assists during that period.
According to OptaCan, and confirmed by allnigeriasoccer.com, the run equals the best streak of his professional career, previously achieved during his prolific spell with Napoli between January and February 2023.
During the sequence, the 27-year-old found the net against Samsunspor, Antalyaspor, Karagümrük, Kayserispor, Rizespor and Besiktas, while also providing assists against Alanyaspor, Eyüpspor and Kayserispor.
Across all competitions this season, Osimhen has now recorded 18 goals and six assists in 26 appearances for the Istanbul giants.
Galatasaray’s victory strengthens their position at the top of the Süper Lig table with 61 points, seven points clear of rivals Fenerbahçe, who still have a game in hand.
Osimhen will be hoping to maintain his outstanding form as the champions push to retain their league title.
