Chelsea’s efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jennifer Echegini have reportedly come to an end.
According to Sky Sports UK, the French club rejected an offer from the Women’s Super League champions and terminated negotiations.
With talks now concluded, Chelsea are expected to reassess their options and could revisit a move for the Nigeria international during the summer transfer window.
The breakdown of the deal is also set to have implications within the squad, with midfielder Lexi Potter, previously linked with a potential loan move, now likely to remain at the club.
The winter window for Women's Super League and Women's Super League 2 clubs opened on Friday January 2, 2026 and closes on Tuesday February 3, 2026.
Chelsea were working hard before the 2300 hours deadline to finalize a deal for Echegini but the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations winner is staying put at Paris Saint-Germain.
Echegini is well acquainted with English football, having spent her formative years in the youth setups of Charlton Athletic, Millwall Lionesses and Arsenal.
Her career has also taken her across Europe and the United States, with spells at SCE Nijmegen, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles and Juventus.
