Former Super Eagles Striker Dombraye Tips Nigeria For AFCON Success
Published: April 22, 2019
Former Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland) and retired Nigeria striker Eddy Dombraye believes the Super Eagles will be unstoppable at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt this summer and the players will not take their opponents for granted despite being pooled in a relatively easy group.
The draw for the tournament was held on April 12 with Nigeria in Group B with Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar.
Dombraye who had playing stints in Poland and Serbia spoke with allnigeriasoccer.com.
"I don't think being in the so called easy group will affect the players because the players themselves know that you can't underrate teams these days, they are professionals and they know what to do.
"I also think these players will surprise a lot of us in Egypt at the Nations Cup.
"After some negative criticisms on social media, some might be playing their last Nations Cup and some their first, I think there will be hunger to succeed during the AFCON .
"The only team that can stop us before the finals is the Super Eagles," the forward who was in Nigeria's U20 squad to the 1999 FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted by Nigeria concluded.
