Germany Ahead Of Nigeria In Race For Borussia Dortmund Wonderkid Collins
Published: August 29, 2019
The German Football Association are ahead of their Nigerian counterparts in the race for Borussia Dortmund central defender Nnamdi Collins, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 2004-born player has been named on the standby list for Germany U16s upcoming friendlies against Austria on 5 and 8 September 2019 in Delmenhorst and Rotenburg respectively.
Twenty-two players have been invited for the games by DFB coach Michael Prus and fourteen other players, including Collins, are able to replace any injured players on the roster.
The Borussia Dortmund whizkid has earned one cap for Germany's youth teams and that was back in May 2019 when he started for the U15s in a 2-0 win over Netherlands.
He was snapped by the 1997 European champions from the youth team of Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2016.
Although Collins is not yet on the radar of the Nigerian Federation, he is fifteen now and would be eligible to represent the Golden Eaglets at the 2021 FIFA U17 World Cup if they qualify.
The center back was promoted to Borussia Dortmund U17 team this season and has started their last four matches in the B-Junioren Bundesliga West.
