Super Eagles Target Nathan Tella Scores Four Goals In First Half For Southampton B
Published: December 13, 2020Arsenal academy product Nathan Tella has proved beyond doubt that he's a cut above the U23 players after netting four first half goals to help Southampton B thrash Leicester City 5-2 in a Premier League 2 game at Snows Stadium on Saturday.
Tella, wearing the captain's armband, started alongside David Agbontohoma and Leicester City's goalkeeper Chituru Odunze did not get off the bench.
In the convincing win for the Saints, Tella found the bottom corner after a through ball from Will Smallbone to open the scoring with seven minutes gone, then made it 2-1 after winning and converting a penalty in the 21st minute.
The 21-year-old was at it again when he fired home into the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick on the half-hour mark and in a game to remember for the Anglo-Nigerian, he volleyed in his fourth goal in the 41st minute.
The lively winger made way for Kgagelo Chauke with eighteen minutes left on the clock.
Tella was handed a first team squad number for the 2020-2021 season and has been named to their matchday squads nine times, four of which he was given minutes by manager Ralph Hasenhüttl.
He is being monitored by the Super Eagles chief scout in England, Tunde Adelakun with a view to a call-up to the Nigeria national team.
