Done deal : Talented Irish-Nigerian striker joins Millwall wef January 1, 2023
Published: December 14, 2022With a statement on their official website, Championship club Millwall have confirmed the signing of talented Irish-Nigerian striker Aidomo Emakhu from Shamrock Rovers.
The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term deal and will complete his transfer to the Lions when the transfer window reopens for business on January 1, 2023.
A Republic of Ireland underage international, Emakhu cannot play for Millwall in a competitive fixture until January 1, but can train with his new teammates at the South East London club.
He put himself in the shop window after finding the net for Shamrock Rovers in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.
In his first words as a player of Millwall, he told the club's official website : "I'm delighted to be here. I've known about the interest for quite a while now and I can't wait to get going.
"I first heard of the interest back in January, when I was playing for Shamrock Rovers. Interest grew more in the summer and I knew the deal was going to get done. It's something to look forward to and I can't wait to get going.
"I'm direct, I like going at defenders and coming in off the left and the right."
Emakhu played his last game for Shamrock Rovers against UCD in November, taking his total appearances for the Irish club to 46 in all competitions.
