Official: Super Eagles fullback Bruno Onyemaechi departs Boavista for Olympiakos
Published: January 27, 2025Through a statement on thei official website, Greek giants Olympiakos have announced the signing of Super Eagles left-back Bruno Onyemaechi from Portuguese club Boavista.
The 25-year-old defender joins the 47-time Greek champions on a deal that is expected to elevate his career to new heights.
Onyemaechi's arrival at Olympiakos marks a significant milestone in his career, which has been on an upward trajectory since his early days in Nigeria.
Born in Owerri, Nigeria, on April 3, 1999, the young defender has worked tirelessly to hone his skills, and his move to Olympiakos attests to his hard work and dedication.
The Nigerian international has already made a name for himself in Portugal, where he played for Boavista, making 77 appearances, scoring five goals, and providing three assists.
This season, he has been in impressive form, contributing three goals and one assist in 18 matches.
Onyemaechi's transfer to Olympiakos provides him with the opportunity to compete on the European stage and at a higher level.
The Greek powerhouse are currently sitting in the playoffs spot in the UEFA Europa League, and are also topping the Greek Super League standings currently.
At the international level, Onyemaechi has earned 11 caps for the Nigerian national team.
He made his debut for the Super Eagles in the 6-0 defeat of Sao Tome and Principe in 2023 and was also part of the squad that finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.
