As the international break approaches, Nigerian footballers across Europe delivered standout performances for their respective clubs on Saturday, March 15.

In England, Paul Onuachu, who was omitted from Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, found the back of the net as Wolves secured a vital 2-1 victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.

The goal marks his third of the campaign, showcasing his resurgence after a slow start to the season.

Elsewhere in England, Tayo Edun proved decisive for Peterborough, netting the only goal in their 1-0 triumph over Cambridge United in League One.

The left back has now contributed three goals and two assists in 15 matches across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Ade Adeyemo registered a consolation goal for Crawley Town in their heavy 5-1 defeat to Huddersfield, while Deji Oshilaja was the match-winner for Mansfield Town in their 2-1 victory over Barnsley.

Oshilaja’s goal takes his tally to four in 32 appearances this season.

In the Belgian Pro League, Tolu Arokodare played a key role in Genk’s 2-1 win over Union St. Gilloise, adding another goal to his season’s tally.

Meanwhile, David Okereke was also on target in a separate fixture, scoring the winning goal for Gaziantep FK in a 1-0 victory against Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig. 

These performances highlight the quality and depth of Nigerian players across Europe, as they continue to make a case for international selection ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifiers.
