FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele has been named Major League Soccer&rsquo;s&nbsp; 2014 Rookie of the Year by the league organizers.<br /><br />To scoop the award, the 22 - year - old saw off competition from Harry Shipp (Chicago Fire), Steve Birnbaum (DC United) and Chis Duvall of the New Yord Red Bulls in that order.<br /><br />&ldquo;It&rsquo;s honestly one of the best days of my life. It&rsquo;s such an honor and I couldn&rsquo;t be happier,&rdquo; said Akindele to the official website of FC Dallas.<br /><br />The highlight of his season was netting a hat - trick in the 5 - 0 defeat of San Jose Earthquakes in August.<br /><br />Eligible to represent Nigeria as well as Canada, Tesho Akindele has committed his international future to the United States.<br /><br />Photo Credit : fcdallas.com<br />
