Speaking at Wednesday's post-match press conference, Gernot Rohr has reiterated that the chances of Nigeria Professional Football League players making his roster for subsequent national team games are very slim.
The German handed a late, late invitation to Enyimba defender Ifeanyi Anaemena after Lokomotiv Moscow's Brian Idowu withdrew from the squad, making it two home-based players named to the Super Eagles roster for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
Rohr does not think that the home-based players are on the same level as their foreign-based counterparts who play in some of the top leagues in Europe.
Asked to shed more light on his contract situation with the Nigerian Federation, the ex-Bayern Munich defender told reporters including allnigeriasoccer.com : ''This is not the moment to speak about my contract, let us speak about the match, we have our project, let us speak about our team, we have been together for three years, Musa was here.
''The team is progressing and we now have young boys who are coming in. I know that you want more and more home-based players but the quality we have abroad is higher for the moment than in the home-based league (Nigeria Professional Football League).
''But we took somebody again to give him a chance, Ifeanyi from Enyimba, and we will all the time give the chance to the players who deserve''.
Anaemena and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa were unused substitutes against Benin on Wednesday evening.
