'The time is really close' - Ferencvaros winger eyes Super Eagles call-up, dreams of partnering Osimhen

Ferencváros winger Bamidele Yusuf is hopeful of earning a call-up to the Super Eagles, describing the prospect of representing Nigeria at the highest level as a lifelong dream he has cherished since his early days in football.

Yusuf has made a significant impact this season, with his standout performances in the Europa League, where he was involved in six goals across eleven game, drawing widespread attention.

Overall, he has directly participated in twenty-four goals this term, scoring 14 and providing 10 assists, underlining both his goalscoring prowess and creative flair.

Yusuf believes his impressive displays for Ferencváros have brought him close to a maiden Super Eagles call-up.

"Every player wants to play on the biggest stage for his country; you know it's a dream come true. If I get called up to the national team, I would be the happiest person on earth. It is one of my dreams to represent my country," Yusuf told OmaSportsTV.

"I believe the time is really close, and I just want to keep working hard. I believe my time will come, and I will be the happiest person to represent my country."

When asked about the players who inspire him, Yusuf highlighted the impact of Super Eagles stars Victor Boniface, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen, whom he described as 'the biggest player in Africa'.

"We have the likes of Victor Boniface, Paul Onuachu, and Victor Osimhen, who is the biggest player in Africa. As a football player, everybody in Africa looks up to Osimhen. If you are close to him or listen to his interviews, you can see where he started, his story.

"He inspires people like us because we have a similar story to his, so we really look up to him. I like the way he plays, he's a fighter and wants to win. Even when I'm on the pitch, I want to win as well. I really admire him, and I hope in the future I can be his partner in the national team."

Growing up, Bamidele Yusuf was a Chelsea supporter and idolised Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba.
