Tosin Adarabioyo has returned to pitch training ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Tolu Arokodare's Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the Blues are determined not to rush the central defender back into action as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, according to The Sun UK.
The Nigeria Football Federation target has not figured for the Blues since he was substituted just before the hour mark in a Premier League clash with Brentford on January 17.
Since then, the Manchester City academy graduate has missed five games in a row contested by the world champions, including Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Although Tosin's injury is not believed to be serious, Chelsea are mindful of the risks associated with hamstring injuries, which can easily worsen if players are rushed back too quickly.
As a result, the Blues plan to carefully manage Tosin's workload and minutes, prioritising his long-term fitness over any short-term gain.
Chelsea's medical staff are keen to avoid a potential setback that could see the defender miss an extended period later in the season.
This cautious stance means the upcoming clash with Wolves may come too soon for the experienced centre-back as he continues to build match sharpness.
Instead, the home fixture against Leeds United is viewed as a more realistic target for his return, provided his recovery continues to progress smoothly.
