Former Bafana Bafana captain Teko Modise has predicted that whichever side emerges victorious in the Africa Cup of Nations semifinal showdown between Nigeria and Morocco on Wednesday, January 14 could go on to lift the trophy.
In a one-sided match on Saturday evening, Nigeria outclassed Algeria 2-0 in Marrakesh, with Victor Osimhen netting the opener in the 47th minute before teeing up Akor Adams who doubled the advantage ten minutes later.
Eric Chelle's main concern heading into the clash with the Atlas Lions is the unavailability of influential captain Wilfred Ndidi in such a crucial game, with the holding midfielder suspended after picking up a booking in the 67th minute of the win against the Desert Warriors.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Modise labelled the encounter a must-watch spectacle, highlighting the quality expected from both teams.
"It’s a cracker. It’s a game that one, if you are watching it at home, you need to buy popcorns and really, really enjoy it," Modise said on SuperSport, as monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com.
The former midfield maestro believes the match will be defined by tactical discipline and fine margins.
"I am expecting a highly tactical game where either one wins, I strongly see them winning the tournament because they are very exciting from an attacking perspective.
"Defensively, Nigeria is growing within the tournament itself. They are starting to be more defensive, they are starting to be more organised. It’s going to be exciting to see if Nigeria can withstand the 12th man."
The Super Eagles have not won the Afcon since 2013 while the Atlas Lions are seeking a first continental title in 50 years.
